Daftar putar dengan nama mereka berdua

Ia bersumpah rekan kerjanya hanya sekadar rekan. Lalu kutemukan daftar putar yang mereka buat bersama, dan judulnya adalah dua nama mereka yang dilebur jadi satu.

Cerita lengkap di bawah ini dalam bahasa Inggris.

There was never a single damning text. That's what made it so hard to name, for so long. No nudes, no hotel receipts, no caught-in-the-act moment. Just a slow, creeping certainty that some part of Ben had moved into a room I wasn't allowed into — and the door to that room, it turned out, was a playlist.

He'd mentioned Delia plenty. A coworker, older than him, "basically a mentor." When I noticed how often they texted late into the night, he'd wave it off — work stuff, deadlines, she's going through a divorce, don't be weird about it. And I tried not to be weird about it. I really did. I am not a snoop by nature. I just happened, one lazy Sunday, to be scrolling my own music app and clicked over to Ben's public profile to steal a song he'd been playing in the car.

That's when I saw it. A collaborative playlist, the kind two people build together, both adding songs. It was titled *Bedelia.*

Ben. Delia. Their two names melted into one word, the way you doodle a couple's name in the margin of a notebook when you're sixteen and stupid with feelings.

I opened it the way you'd open a letter you already know is going to ruin your day.

It wasn't a work playlist. It wasn't road-trip songs or office background music. It was forty-some tracks of the most achingly specific, romantic, longing music you can imagine — songs about secret love, about wanting someone you can't have, about waiting, about devotion that has to stay hidden. Song after song, traded back and forth between the two of them like notes passed under a desk. You could read the whole affair in the track order. You could see them answering each other.

He'd never touched her, maybe. I'll never fully know. But emotional affairs don't always need bodies. They need a private place to pour all the feeling you've stopped giving the person you're actually with — and Ben and Delia had built theirs in plain sight, set to music, with their names stitched together at the top like a tiny wedding.

I sat with it for an hour, listening to the whole thing, which I do not recommend as a form of self-care. Every song was a small confirmation. By the end I wasn't even shocked anymore. I was just tired.

When I confronted him, he reached immediately for the technicality. "It's just *music,*" he said. "We just have similar taste. You're reading into a playlist." As if the title were a coincidence. As if you accidentally fuse your name with a coworker's and accidentally curate three hours of secret-love ballads together at midnight.

I asked him to read me the titles out loud. He wouldn't. That was answer enough.

Here's what I've learned, and what I'd tell anyone: people guard their texts now. They lock their phones, they delete, they use codenames. But almost nobody thinks to hide the *art* they're sharing — the playlists, the saved posts, the little public museums of what's actually living in their heart. Ben protected every message he ever sent Delia. He just never imagined I'd be undone by a list of songs.

I left him over a playlist. And the saddest part? Some of those songs were genuinely beautiful. I just can't listen to a single one of them anymore without hearing the sound of being quietly, tunefully replaced.
