그녀의 거짓말을 드러낸 공유 폴더

그녀는 예술이라고 했다. 하지만 공유 폴더를 열어 보니 사진은 전 남자친구에게 보낸 것이었다.

I never thought I'd find betrayal in a shared folder. It was just a Google Drive link she'd sent me months ago, a place to dump our vacation photos, grocery lists, and the occasional funny meme. She called it our digital home, and I trusted it like I trusted her.

She was a photographer—self-taught, passionate. When she told me her friend wanted to practice lighting with tasteful nudes, I felt a flicker of unease. But I swallowed it. "It's art," she said, kissing my forehead. "You're not the jealous type, right?" I wasn't. Or I didn't want to be.

Last Tuesday, I needed a photo of our dog's vaccination record. I opened the Drive on my laptop, scrolling through folders labeled "Beach Trip" and "Recipes." Then I saw it: a new folder named "Project Light." Curiosity jabbed me. I clicked.

Inside were fifty-two JPEGs, each with a timestamp from the night before. Thumbnails showed soft shadows and bare skin. My stomach tightened. I opened the first image: her, draped in white silk on our living room couch. The composition was beautiful, but the intimacy stabbed me. She was posed, lips parted, eyes half-lidded. Then I noticed the file name: "For_Mark_01.jpg."

Mark. Her ex-boyfriend. The one she claimed was just a friend now, a "creative collaborator." My heart hammered as I clicked through. "For_Mark_02," "For_Mark_03"—each more explicit, each aimed at someone else. The silk slipped away. The shadows revealed more. And in the corner of one shot, I saw our wedding photo on the mantlepiece, her ring finger bare.

My hands trembled. I closed the folder, opened it again, hoping it would vanish. It didn't. I checked the Drive's permissions. It was shared between our two accounts—our household folder. She must have forgotten.

I didn't confront her that night. I sat on the bed, watching her sleep, her breath soft and innocent. The next morning, I made coffee, waited until she sat down at the kitchen table. Then I turned my laptop toward her and clicked on the folder.

"What's this?" I asked, my voice hollow.

Her face drained. She opened her mouth, closed it. "It's... it's not what you think."

"The photos are named for Mark. They're in our shared Drive. You said it was for practice."

She reached for my hand. I pulled away. "He's been helping me with my portfolio. It's just art, I swear."

"Art you send to your ex? With no clothes?"

Tears slid down her cheeks. "I didn't mean for you to see that. I was going to tell you."

"When? After he had a full collection?"

She sobbed, words tumbling out: regrets, mistakes, a rekindled flame she thought she'd extinguished. I heard nothing but static. I packed a bag, left the house, drove to a parking lot. The rain started, streaking the windshield like tears I couldn't cry.

I sat there for hours, the Drive folder burned into my mind. She said it was art. But art doesn't lie. Art doesn't hide in a shared folder, waiting to shatter everything you thought was real.
