Alexa听见了一切

我从没想过,一台智能音箱会揭穿丈夫的婚外情。可Alexa的记录把一切都录了下来——他的声音、她的笑声,还有那些谎言。

以下完整故事为英文。

I never thought I'd be betrayed by a smart speaker. But there I was, staring at my phone, the Alexa app open, my hand trembling as I pressed play on a voice log from Tuesday at 3:00 PM.

It started innocently enough. Greg had been complaining that our Alexa kept playing the wrong playlist—'80s power ballads instead of his usual jazz. I figured I'd check the history to see if maybe he'd said something wrong. The app showed a list of timestamps, each one a little blue play button. I scrolled to Tuesday, the day he'd left early for a "client lunch." There was a recording labeled "3:02 PM." I tapped it.

Static, then a chair creaking. My own voice from earlier that morning faded in, saying something about grocery lists. Then a door opening. Greg's footsteps. I recognized the clink of his keys dropping on the hall table. Behind him, a soft laugh—a woman's laugh. Not mine.

"Alexa," Greg's voice said, clear as a bell, "play 'Let's Get It On.'"

The music started, a smooth Marvin Gaye groove. And then her voice again, closer now: "God, I love when you do that."

"I love having you in my house," Greg replied. "Especially when she's not here."

I stopped the recording. My stomach lurched. I replayed it three times, each time hoping I'd misheard. But no—that was his voice, their laughter, the implication of my own home as a stage for his betrayal.

Our house. The one we bought together three years ago, with the garden I'd planted and the kitchen island where we'd shared a thousand cups of coffee. Now it felt like a crime scene.

I checked the older logs. There were more: "Alexa, set romantic dinner lighting" from last week while I was at book club. "Alexa, play sensual R&B" from two Thursdays ago, when I was visiting my mother. Each recording was a knife twist. I could hear her giggling, their whispers, the clink of wine glasses. Alexa had documented it all, an acoustic paper trail of infidelity.

I sat on the couch, phone in hand, until I heard Greg's car in the driveway. My heart hammered. He walked in, smiling, holding takeout. "Hey babe, got your favorite—"

"Who is she?"

His face went blank. "What?"

"I heard you, Greg. On the Alexa. Tuesday at 3 PM. 'Play 'Let's Get It On.'' 'I love having you in my house.' Who is she?"

He dropped the bag. Thai food splattered across the tile. "Babe, listen—"

"Don't. Just don't. How long?"

He rubbed his face. "A few months. She's from the gym. I'm sorry, Rach. I never meant—"

"You never meant for me to find out," I said, my voice cold. "But your precious smart speaker tattled."

He looked at the Echo Dot on the counter, its blue light pulsing innocently. "I didn't know—"

"That's the problem. You didn't think."

I stood up, grabbed my keys. "I need air."

He called after me, but I was already out the door. The evening air was cool, but all I felt was the burn of betrayal. I walked to the end of our block and back, the neighborhood quiet save for a dog barking. When I returned, Greg was sitting at the kitchen table, head in his hands.

"I've already called Claire," he said, referring to his sister. "I'm going to stay with her tonight. Give you space."

"Good."

He packed a bag in silence. Before he left, he turned to me. "Rach, I never meant to hurt you. It just happened."

"Nothing 'just happens,' Greg. You made a choice. Every time you said a command to that thing, you chose her."

He left. The door clicked shut. I stood in the kitchen, the Alexa glowing mute. I walked over, picked it up, and held it. This tiny plastic cylinder, always listening, had exposed a truth I wasn't ready for. I didn't throw it against the wall. I didn't smash it. Instead, I went to the app and deleted every single recording—but I knew the memories would stay, echoing in my head forever.

The next morning, I unplugged the Alexa. I boxed it up with the other smart devices. But the silence in the house was louder than any command, and I knew I'd never trust a listening device—or a person—again.

Months later, the divorce was finalized. I moved to a smaller apartment with no smart speakers. Sometimes I think about how a machine became the most honest witness to my marriage. And I wonder what else it heard that I'll never know.
