Context is not absolution
People may cheat for many reasons: avoidance of conflict, entitlement, opportunity, validation seeking, unresolved dissatisfaction, poor boundaries, or a desire for novelty. None of these reasons makes deception acceptable.
The useful question is not only “why did this happen?” but “what choices made it possible, and what accountability follows?” A relationship problem can be real while the decision to hide, lie, or betray remains the responsibility of the person who made it.
